The Warriors of the Lathar Series & FAQ
What is the Warriors of the Lathar series about?
The Warriors of the Lathar is a science fiction romance series following an ancient alien warrior race on the brink of extinction and the human women who turn out to be their only hope. Generations ago, a genetic plague wiped out every Latharian female, and the species has been slowly dying ever since, forced to rely on increasingly desperate methods just to keep their population alive. When the Lathar discover that human women are genetically compatible, the only species that can save them, Earth suddenly becomes the most important planet in the galaxy.
Each book follows a different Latharian warrior and the human woman who turns his world upside down, with fated mates bonds, possessive alien heroes, and an intergalactic conflict that builds across the series. Across the books in the series you’ll find alien abduction romance, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, touch her and die, size difference, slow burn, forbidden love, found family, and heroes who fall first and fall hard. If you love towering alpha aliens, heroines who don’t go quietly (from battle-hardened soldiers to fish out of water civilians), and a universe that keeps expanding with every book, this is your series.
Who are the Lathar?
The Lathar are a technologically advanced alien warrior species who have ruled a galactic empire for generations. If you bumped into one, you’d know it. Seven feet tall, heavily muscled, tanned or golden skin, with slitted cat-like pupils and a much slower aging process than humans. Some of them, especially those from the ancient Vorr bloodline, have prominent fangs. Their society is an Imperial Monarchy ruled by an Emperor, and it’s deeply militaristic and honour-bound. Warriors earn honour braids and beads in their hair to mark their battle achievements, and even their healers are warriors. Latharian healers wear ceremonial scars as badges of honour from the brutal trials they must pass.
The Lathar are divided into specialised clans, each the result of ancient genetic engineering programmes that shaped warriors for different roles. That same genetic engineering is what caused the plague that wiped out their women. Clan K’Vass are the honourable protectors with deep ties to the royal family; Clan B’Kaar are cyber-warriors who wire technology into their bodies (called ke’lath) to live partially in digital cyberspace, perfect for readers who love cyborg romance; the Izaeans are feared berserker romance warriors who suffer from a genetic mutation called Blood Rage that turns them into unstoppable fighters; and the Vorr are an ancient clan whose bloodline was once used to create the Vorrtan, primal genetically enhanced supersoldiers believed to have been wiped out. They weren’t. Readers who love alien shifter romance will find what they’re looking for here.
Whatever their type, a Latharian warrior is intensely possessive and protective of his mate(s) from the moment he recognises her/them. The drive to claim and protect hits long before the mating marks do. When the marks finally appear, organic black vine-like tattoos that surface on his wrists after the pair (or more) have been intimate, they’re confirmation of what he already knew. Under Imperial decree, harming a human female is considered an act of war against the entire empire.
What order should I read the Warriors of the Lathar books?
Publication order is reading order. Start with Alien Lord’s Captive (Book 1) and work forward. Each book follows a different couple and reaches a complete happily-ever-after, but the overarching storyline, the Latharian-human conflict, the political intrigue within the empire, and the Purist threat, builds across the series. Reading in order gives you the full picture of how the world expands and how earlier couples’ stories ripple into later books. Check the complete reading order list below on this page, and note that some titles (like Alien Healer’s Baby and Alien Warrior’s Secret) are newsletter-exclusive bonus stories that fill in slice-of-life moments between main releases.
How are the series in the Latharian universe connected?
The Warriors of the Lathar is the flagship series, and several spin-off series branch directly out of its storyline. They’re all set in the same universe, share the same overarching timeline, and characters and events cross over between them. You don’t need to read all of them, but if you want the complete picture of the Latharian universe, they’re all part of the same story. Start with Warriors of the Lathar Book 1 (Alien Lord’s Captive) for the best entry point into the world.
What is the Lathar Mercenaries: Warborne series?
The Lathar Mercenaries: Warborne is a spin-off series following a crew of mercenary warriors you first meet in Warriors of the Lathar Book 10 (Kissed by the Alien Mercenary). Their own series picks up from there and also introduces the Reaper and Blood Core mercenary groups. The crew is a mix of Lathar, humans, cyborgs, and shifters operating outside the empire’s rigid laws, and the cast includes an amnesiac cyborg, a secret royal, a shifter, a nerd who becomes a space version of a jock, a mafia princess, a female pitfighter, and an arsonist who becomes a king. The series is built on found family, forced proximity aboard their ship, fated mates, and tough-as-nails heroines who can hold their own alongside seven-foot-tall aliens. If you love space opera romance with morally grey heroes, gritty space settings, and that ragtag crew against the galaxy energy, Warborne is where you’ll find them. The Warborne series is complete, but the mercenary stories continue with the Reapers and will carry on into Blood Core.
What is the Latharian Mate Program series?
The Latharian Mate Program follows couples matched through the empire’s formal B’Kaar-designed matching programme, which launches after the events of Alien Cyberwarrior’s Matched Mate (Warriors of the Lathar Book 15). If you love mail order bride romance, this is the alien version. Human women sign up (or get signed up) and a high-tech matching algorithm pairs them with a possessive Latharian warrior. Fated mates, forced proximity, and culture clash guaranteed. The algorithm is never wrong. The women don’t always agree.
What is LMP: Unmatched Mates?
LMP: Unmatched Mates is a spin-off of the Latharian Mate Program. Women who can’t find genetic matches through the alien mail order bride programme are sent to farflung Latharian colonies. Think small town romance, but in space. With aliens. If you love close-knit community settings, fish out of water heroines, and found family alongside your possessive alien warriors, this is your series.
What are the Alien Berserkers of Izaea books?
The Alien Berserkers of Izaea series focuses on the Izaean warriors, Latharian males afflicted with a genetic mutation called Blood Rage that turns them into unstoppable berserkers. The first Izaean appears in Alien Surgeon’s Seduction (Warriors of the Lathar Book 8), another shows up in An Alien Berserker for Christmas (Book 17), and the Izaean storyline fully kicks off after the events of Hunted by the Alien Berserker (Book 19). If you love beauty and the beast dynamics, redemption romance, monster romance, and dark tortured heroes who need their fated mate to survive, start here. The series is ongoing.
What is the Imperial Princes of the Lathar series?
The Imperial Princes of the Lathar is a prequel series set during the founding of the Latharian Empire, over 250,000 years before the events of the Warriors of the Lathar. It follows the warriors who forged the empire and built the culture, the honour codes, and the traditions that the modern Lathar still live by. If you’ve ever wanted to know how the Latharian Empire began, this is where you’ll find out. And if you’re reading the main series, keep your eyes open. The past isn’t as far away as the Lathar think it is.
How does the Cyborgs series connect to the Lathar universe?
There is a connection between the Lathar universe and the Cyborgs series for readers who want to dig even deeper into the world. Watch out for Zero and Jesh in the Warborne and Reaper series.
How many books are in the Warriors of the Lathar series?
As of March 2026, there are 21 main novels in the Warriors of the Lathar series, plus newsletter-exclusive bonus novellas. The series launched in 2015 with Alien Lord’s Captive and the latest release is Stolen by the Alien Bodyguard (Book 21), published March 31, 2026. The Latharian universe is still growing. Warriors of the Lathar, the Latharian Mate Program, LMP: Unmatched Mates, and the Alien Berserkers of Izaea are all ongoing, the Warborne series is complete but the mercenary stories continue through the Reapers and into Blood Core, and more subseries are on the way.
